Considered as mentor to Great actors Rajinkanth,Kamal Hassan and Prakash Raj. Mr Balachander had over 100 films in his career. His best-known films are Aval Ora Thodar Kathai, Apoorva Raagangal, Avargal, Varumayin and Niram Sigappu. He also produced several hit films through his production house Kavithaalaya Productions.
Mr Balachander is the recipient of Padma Shri award, fourth highest civilian award and Dada Sahbe award, the highest recognition for excellence in cinema in the country, in 2010.
