It’s been a good year for mega family.All the mega heros have had a good success at telugu cinema box office.. Allu Arjun starrer ‘Race gurram’ is the highest grosser of this year till now. Now it’s time for Mega brother, Naga babu’ s son Varun Tej to make his debut in Telugu cinema with Mukunda, Will Varun tej continue the success streak of mega family ?? The film starts off in a hyderabad, where a soft spoken guy named Mukunda ( Varun Tej ) heading to his home town. He bumps into an old village friend on bus, then narrates story that A nefarious municipal chairman ( Rao Ramesh) dominates everyone, who goes against him in town. Meanwhile, Mukunda’s friend Arjun loves the daughter of municipal chairman. Mukunda saves his friend from minions of the wicked politician and confronts him. He endorses a well educated man ( Prakash Raj) in municipal elections against him. How mukunda saves his friend from minions of the wicked politician? How Mukunda will face him? And who will win the election? Forms the crux of the story.
Director Srikanth Addala, Who has earlier directed ‘Kottha Bangaru Lokam’ and ‘Seethamma vakitlo sirimalle chettu’ has penned a simple family story conflated with commercial values. He also written the dialogues, which have alot depth of meaning in it. There are no roaring dialogues and No swing shots, the man at the helm dealt the subject very smoothly and extracted the finest performances from the cast. Marthanada venkatesh Editing should have been quite crisper. cinematography by Manikandan is good. Music composed by Mickey J meyer is decent and background score is refreshing. Production values by Leo productions are good.
A lot is expected from Varun Tej for obvious reasons.On a scale of 10, Varun Tej’s performance deserves 8 marks, dialogue delivery 8 and overall personality 9. He doesn’t even try to imitate anyone of mega heros that’s what I liked most about him. The youngster has all it takes to emerge a competent actor in times to come. Even in his debut-making film, Varun Tej comes across as a fine actor and lives up to his Mega family name. Gorgeous actress Pooja Hegde is restricted to songs, She doesn’t get much chance to perform. Interesting point is Varun and pooja don’t exchange even a single dialogue. Rao Ramesh suits for the role of a nearious man. He nailed it with natural mannerism. Prakash raj’s screen presence is limited. Ali’ s performace is passable. Nassar did a good job. Director sekhar kammula made a cameo appearance. Other cast have done a decent job.
On the whole,Mukunda has a good screenplay that keep you the viewer glued to the screen for 142 mins. Movie runs smoothly. Business wise, Mukunda will give a tough competition to its competitor. Go and watch this family entertainer with your familu and friends.
